The only correlation that I can find is... Amy had her run-in with the Dremel tool on the 15th of July. Starting last thursday (22nd), she started waking up during the night and calling out to me. This is COMPLETELY new behaviour. She did sleep all the way through Monday night. (for those not familiar, complete details are in Amy's adoption chronicle).

Okay ~ so 1 night in a row was a start.... But last night Amy was up twice. The first time at 10:30 and the second at midnight..... The first time I was 1/2 asleep, so before I woke completely up, I was already in her room, talking to her and telling her she should be asleep (so much for not reacting to her calls at night). I had just let the dogs out to go pee and settled back into bed for the 2nd go around. She called for about 10 minutes and then went back to sleep.

I don't think a nightlight is going to work. I have to put sheets and towels around the door to her sleeping room because if there is any light, she lets me know. My house is old and has add-on's, so her room has 2 doors (you can walk right through it). One door backs up to the hallway where the bathroom that my step daughter uses. Sometimes she will leave the light on and when she does, if I don't have all the cracks sealed so light can't get in, Amy will call until I fix it.

Sooo, I'm convinced there are no bugs, I don't think a nightlight will work, I'm only reacting when I'm not fully awake and hubby will be home in 3 days.... I really need to get this "fixed" if possible before he comes home.....

with the disruptions in her home she is going to need time to adjust. The door to the bathroom - take a towel and tape it to the door so that it just hits the floor and folds about an inch on the floor this should keep the light out. It could be that Amy is hearing that bathroom being used & it's not something she's used to. With her room being changed around she may just need more time to get used to it. Try taking her into the room and letting her see all the new stuff with you touching it and telling her what it is - you may discover something in there is bothering her, or making her nervous.

Get a box fan and run it on low in her room right next to the door (run it day and night so she gets used to the noise) to help drown out the night time noises (any kind of white noise or get a cheap nature machine http://www.westsidewholesale.com/sounds ... -_-na-_-na (that's what I use)). Set up a bedtime routine that you can stick w/ nightly. Start settling her down about an hour before lights out. Go to the store and buy some sleepy time tea and give her some warm tea about 15 min before lights out (they drink it much better out of a cup w/ you acting like you are sharing it). Once she has her tea place her in her cage w/ some of her favorite treats. Use these treats only at bedtime. I give mine all pistachios at this time. If they are really restless like during hormone season, I make them warm cereal w/ chopped nuts at bedtime. I'll add some of the tea to the cereal and give them a little out of a cup. They all sleep amazingly well w/ a full crop and something drowning out the household night noises.

OK - I feel like a dumb-butt. I have sleepy time tea and Amy & I have our favorite cup to share from.... I don't know why I didn't think about just going back to the basics....

I have a small humidifier that runs in her room that functions as "white noise" for her. Plus, it does double duty for me since it's hard for me to get her all the humidity she needs anyway here in New Mexico.

I will also try the warm cereal and chopped nuts with tea in it ~ that sounds like a really good idea.

Vdax: I also plan on taking a "tour" of her room with her tonight and see if there is anything she reacts to.... I'll let you know how it goes.
